Tips to keep your vehicle looking new:
Common tips for vehicle owners:
1.) Wash your vehicle regularly to keep it clean.
2.) Avoid Gas Station Car Washes, they will absolutely destroy your vehicle and you CANNOT return the damage to normal.
Here’s why to avoid them: First you drive though a box which takes your vehicle from point A to B with no regard to the specific vehicle or condition it is in. Next a hose sprays some water and chemicals on your vehicle. Then a battering ram comes down and spins/pounds your vehicle clean(except it doesn’t remove much). Followed by another rinse and then a…BLOW DRY! You might as well get our of your vehicle and help blow dry it off because it’s never going to get dry that way. ALL of the water spots left will eventually eat into your vehicles clear coat. Not only this, but all of the chemicals they use are usually low quality and will damage your clear coat years earlier than expected.
3.) Avoid low quality drive thru washes if you can. Many of them are comparable to gas station car washes.
Here’s why to avoid them: First you drive down an assembly line from point A to B with no regard to specific vehicle condition. If a necessary service task can’t be completed in this amount of time it gets skipped over because the next vehicle is right behind it and they need to get yours out of the way! Not only this, but the water is not 99.9% pure and clear of contaminants like the water at Elite Auto Detailing. Also the soiled towels are used over and over again leaving scratches & swirls on vehicle after vehicle. Many of these car washes don’t use microfiber towels because they are too expensive and the chemical to maintain them costs too much.
The workers are paid such low wages that they have no incentive to make your vehicle look its best. You’re often treated as just another vehicle that comes and goes through the machine.
4.) Don’t let debris, bug splatter or bird droppings sit on your paint. They will harm the clear coat.
5.) Keep a fresh coat of wax on the paint. Depending on the vehicle 2-3 times per year will be enough.
6.) Protect interior with a conditioner and UV protectant.
7.) Protect exterior trim & rubber areas with a UV protectant.
8.) Keep rims clean of brake dust. This will build up and become difficult to remove over time and can even cause damage to the rims when neglected.
9.) Use microfiber towels on the vehicles finish to avoid scratches & swirl marks.
10.) Wash your vehicle with deionized water because it doesn’t leave contaminants on your vehicle, which can harm the finish.
11.) Use a professional glass cleaner(Not Windex) and window towels to make your windows & mirrors truly streak free.
12.) Protect your tires with the proper dressing to keep them looking black.
13.) When possible, park your vehicle in a garage or carport.
